Has your business suffered due to the recent bad weather?
Thinking about this, I realised that with today’s technology, you really don’t have to do the traditional thing any more, which is going in to work. Doing online marketing for your business can be done from almost anywhere!
I’ve been trapped at home since Reading experienced at least 10 inches of snow. My boss forwarded the relevant contents of my inbox to me, including her own instructions on what work I had to do. I could also pick up my emails when she wasn’t in the office, and with the aid of content managed systems I could access most of the websites we work with.
Most modern websites (in particular blogs) are content managed with access from any computer, privacy and security maintained with usernames and passwords. And it doesn’t stop there: if you’re out and about, laptops can access the internet from any wi-fi spot, dongles allow internet access without wi-fi, smart-phones have access to the internet, especially for social networking (a must for online marketing) which can be updated using a variety of applications, as any entrepreneur on the go will tell you.
Skype facilitates conference calling, so no need to brave black ice to attend meetings, and Skype also allows visual 1:2:1 communications if required. Alternatively for 1:2:many, at prescribed times teleseminars can educate your customers on the telephone and webinars do the same on the net.
So even if we are set in for a big freeze, there’s no reason why today’s businesses should be just as frozen, especially when it comes to continuing with their marketing. Once the thaw comes, what would really stop you from hitting the ground running?
