When people ask me what my No. 1 Success Tip is, I would probably suggest “Don’t leave success to chance- make sure you follow your vision and have a plan”.
When you know where you want to get to in business and how you are going to achieve it, you are far more likely to achieve success, whatever success means to you!
Should this thought inspire you to make a quick short-term plan right away, just use an A4 or A3 sized sheet in landscape format, and start writing:
1. In the top left hand corner, write the header “Where I am now (Point A)” and in the top right hand corner, “Where I want to be in 3 months time (Point B)”. Provide your answers underneath each header, and then, below them, draw a long arrow pointing from A to B.
2. Underneath the arrow, towards the left, write “What do I need to have or do, to get me from A to B?”
3. Once you’ve listed up your general ‘projects’, make another list alongside, breaking them down into actions. Consider “What will I do, and by when, to make these happen.” (Time frames are important!)
4. Then all you have to do is put your plan up, where you can see it. Or you can transfer your actions to a to-do list, your Outlook tasks or a calendar– and you’re ready to roll!
“Do it now. You become successful the moment you start moving toward a worthwhile goal.” Unknown
