There are at least three ways in which this is so wrong!
- All the Search engines? While there are many other search engines, almost all searches in the UK are done via Google, Yahoo, and Bing. Many of the other less well known search engines take their results from Google. So you don’t need to submit your site to every search engine there is! Note: if you are targeting China, Russia or the Middle East, you will need to take into account other search engines as well.
- Submit Every Month? Not true. Search engines can find your website pages by following links. Trying to re-index a page over and over again will do absolutely nothing to improve search engine rankings.
- Submit at all? As long as your new website, or the new page on your website, has a link to it, Google and the other search engines will find it without submission. We proved this by accident a few months ago. We are gradually moving copies of all past Ad-Lib articles onto our website with a link to each article from the menu and submenus. Every article we added to the site was indexed within 2 weeks. However, when we created an extra page specifically to support an advertising campaign, we added the page to the website but put no links to it at all. Three months later, it still had not been indexed.
If you really want to, you can submit your website to Google very easily at www.google.com/addurl; but that doesn’t guarantee it will be indexed anyway!
Any SEO firm which plans to charge you a monthly fee – or any fee – for this service should be viewed with great suspicion and avoided in my opinion!
So the important point to take away is – make sure your website pages have links to them if you want to get them indexed by Google.
